Letting Go

i was holding on so tightly
that flesh was breaking
i was breaking
i was always fucking breaking
down
and
out
like sliding into home base
as the catcher waits with a smile
i grasped and gasped
drowning in my imaginary ocean
of regrets and what-ifs and maybes
and why-the-hell-nots
until my hands were aching
and my heart was racing
aching to reach the finish line
and ignoring the the scenic route
you know ive never been good at this sort of thing
my biggest fear is losing
because maybe when you go
a part of me goes too

i am too small
to spare any parts.

creation cannot happen without atrophy of what came before. while part of you breaks, what comes though the ashes and kibble; is something new that is stronger than before
