Lift

tossing dreams down the elevator shaft
pants around her ankles
girl gave up on the world
but not on him
never on him
metal box rising with synchronized heart beats
falling with missed stops and opportunities
down down down
catching up
to everything she's thrown away

people always assume that reflecting on our past, what we've left beneath us bad, but without tossing those things away who we are wouldn't be who we are. by looking back on what is beneath us, what scraps of metal and stone left on the floor we become archeologists to ourselves and our past states of minds. through that knowledge, no matter how hard it is to see, we also remember as to why things were left behind.
some times it is hard, we all get sucked in by the gravity of our doubts, feeling a black hole consume our inner fires, and our past seems to be the catalyst for more destruction. i suffer form this, but then i always remember what was created by tossing out parts of the whole. i try to embrace the alchemy. if not for my past, if not for my lonely elevator rides into my own past i would never have been were i was when i met those things that are important to me now.
i'm tired, sorry for rambling.
